Xavi Simons’ future at Paris Saint-Germain is still uncertain. According to BILD, the twenty-year-old dribbler has the opportunity to continue his career at Arsenal after this season. Simons returned to the French top club last summer for four million euros, which took him over from PSV. This season, the winger and attacking midfielder has excelled on loan at RB Leipzig.

Simons was one of the standouts in the Eredivisie on behalf of PSV last season and was able to be brought back for a pittance by PSG through a buyout clause, where he signed a contract until mid-2027. The Parisians chose to rent it directly to Leipzig. Simons has so far scored 6 goals and 9 assists at the German top club, spread over 26 matches.

Simons’ excellent performance has not gone unnoticed. While Leipzig logically previously contacted PSG to extend the loan of the eleven-time Dutch international, it now appears, according to the German newspaper, that Arsenal also have their sights set on the summer arrival of the playmaker. In addition to the Gunners, Barcelona and Bayern Munich are also in the race for Simons.

PSG has yet to make a decision on the future of Simons, who now represents an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of 36.3 million euros. French media previously reported that the French top club had decided to permanently sell in the summer of 2024, as president Nasser Al-Khelaifi reportedly sees him mainly as an investment. There would only be a future for Simons if Kylian Mbappé decides not to renew his contract in Paris.

Arsenal were also in the race for Simons last summer, who preferred a return to PSG to a move to London. The right-footed creative gave the impression of wanting to make a transfer to the Premier League after he switched to English agent Darren Dein, who, according to Jeroen Kapteijns of De Telegraaf, would have ‘great entrances’ at Arsenal.
