THE GREAT WHITE RACE 2024

A journey completed in one breath, with his head down, but always with a smile for the volunteers and the public who encouraged him and cheered for him at the various checkpoints.
Even though the snow conditions were not the best, Val d’Aosta did not lose heart and had skis on his shoulders for a good part of the route, he triumphed over everyone, leading the second competitor on skis, Andrea Sorteni, by a good 4 hours. Third place, again for the ski category, was won by Gianni Compagnoni from Camonia after over 20 hours.
For the ski category, again in the long race, but this time for women, Marta Poretti triumphed, reaching the finish line after 23 hours while second position was occupied by Patrizia Passeri with a gap of over an hour and forty.
The Frenchman Pierre Augrit triumphed in the 110km men’s walking category with a time of 17 hours, while Daniele Nava crossed the finish line after just over 20 hours. Third place was achieved by Leonardo Zubani with 21 hours and 37 minutes.

In the women’s competition, Laura Trentani won first place with a time of 22 hours and 10 minutes, while Alice Fustini took second place with just over 25 hours and Graziana Pe’ took third place after 25 hours and 32 minutes of racing.
Only two male competitors crossed the finish line for the bike category, Michele Fantoli with a time of 18 hours and 04, and Gianluigi Bellantuoni with 25 hours and 56 minutes.
The race with the most entries, the 40km, gave very positive feedback, both in terms of entries and in terms of interest. Starting from the square of Monno on Friday evening at 10pm, the Corsa Bianca itself gave great emotions to the participants who found themselves walking along paths and mule tracks under the light of the full moon and the stars.

For the men’s walking category, a very fit Luca Carrara crossed the finish line after only 4 hours and 46 minutes, second position was won by Giovanni Ferrarini after 5 hours and 26 minutes, while third position was taken by Gilles Pagnussat after 5 hours and 31 minutes. .
The women also put in a great performance, reaching the finish line respectively with Paola Bottanelli in first place after 6 hours and 10, Katia Chiara Figini, in second place after 6 hours and 25 and Fiammetta Quadrelli with a time of 6 hours and 55.
As regards the ski discipline, the home athlete Martino Occhi won the men’s event with a time of 5 hours and 23 minutes, second place went to Enrico Scanavin with 5 hours and 52 minutes and third was Christian Maffessoli with 5 hours. and 58.
The women defended themselves with their nails, achieving excellent results. Giuditta Turini in first place finished the race in 5 hours and 52 minutes, Elisa Lazzarini in second place with 9 hours and 23 minutes and Ilaria Mazzarello in third place with 10 hours and 10 minutes.
Cristian Vaira won first place in the bike category with 5 hours and 2 minutes.

A category that is becoming increasingly popular is that of mushers. About fifteen competitors have in fact decided to be accompanied on this beautiful adventure by their faithful four-legged friends. Before departure and along the route, a veterinary service monitored the conditions of the dogs step by step to avoid any type of problem that could have occurred along a 40km route.
In the men’s category Marco Giorgetti won with a time of 5 hours and 47 minutes, Ruben Bassani came second with 6 hours and 23 minutes and Marco Pedrolini came in third after 6 hours and 43 minutes.

Good results also in the women’s field with Elisabetta Berardi in first place after 8 hours and 26, Ylenia Zampieron in second with 8 hours and 51 and Claudi Elisabetta Artaz with 9 hours and 57. This edition of La Grande Corsa Binaca has also been archived and the organizers cannot than to feel satisfied with an event that has achieved great results and is certainly destined to grow over time. Time to regain strength, to work off the emotional charge and we are already thinking about the future, about the next edition.
