The former president of the referees Velasco Carballo and 11 other referees, accused of hiring Negreira’s son

The former president of the Technical Committee of Referees (CTA), Carlos Velasco Carballo and 11 more members were reported to the Civil Guard by their own colleagues for hiring the coaching services of the son of the former vice president of the CTA José María Enríquez Negreira.

He stated that the former president of the CTA was the one who had received the most coach training from Javier Enríquez, who also had a very important portfolio of referees, surely recruited as individual clients during the arbitration concentrations. Mateu Lahoz was pointed out in turn by the assistant José María Sánchez Santos as one of the members who had also supposedly hired the son of the former vice president of the CTA. However, the Valencian referee flatly denied it to the agents, clarifying that he would never have told them because he had his private coach, although he offered him his services on several occasions.

Santiago Jaime Latre He told investigators that he knew how Javier Enríquez worked and that he knew other colleagues who had hired him. Since he did not know other people who were dedicated to coaching, he decided to hire him. One of his assistants who was Catalan, José María Carrera García, recommended him to him and told him that he paid him in cash. Regarding the 7 transfers of 200 euros that were published in the press, he indicated that he thought they were less, although he remembered that in their concepts he always put the acronyms of the football teams with respect to the game they commented on in the coaching sessions.

Latre added that in those talks they talked about placement aspects, interaction with the players, gestures he had made and similar aspects with the aim of improving these behaviors and that the sessions were very useful. Although he paid him in transfers, Enríquez told him that many people, perhaps to make it appear that he had many clients, paid him in cash.

He gave him invoices, but he does not currently have any, nor does he specifically remember who issued the invoices, whether as a self-employed person or in the name of a company.

Alfonso Álvarez Izquierdo He told the Civil Guard that he met Negreira’s son at a rally. She worked with him analyzing matches to improve as a professional referee and later, she hired him as a coach to improve his refereeing abilities for a certain number of matches, between 10 and 12, paying him about 200 euros per session in cash. He would go to Enríquez’s house and the sessions would take place there.

He paid by bank transfer the vast majority of the time, which was an average of 500 euros per month, a total of 14,200 euros. She did not ask for an invoice for it, nor did he offer one to her. The monthly fee was 300 euros and if it involved analyzing a match, 200 euros more per match.
