The Brooklyn Nets in Crisis: Uncertain Future for Mikal Bridges

The Brooklyn Nets continue in free fall. The painful defeat suffered this Sunday against the Los Angeles Clippers after wasting 18 points in the last quarter has confirmed the need to make structural changes to the squad. The magnitude of these modifications will depend on the direction management wants to take, although, for now, there is at least one player they consider untouchable.

Various previous reports ensure that the Nets are not considering the possibility of releasing Mikal Bridges, who is, as of today, the best player on the roster and the main asset received in the transfer of Kevin Durant to Phoenix. It seems unlikely that the forward will leave before the market closes, but there are several teams that are closely monitoring his situation in case Brooklyn changes their mind.

He half Bleacher Report informa that at least three franchises would be willing to bid very hard for Bridges. These would be the Sacramento Kings, Oklahoma City Thunder and Utah Jazz, who have a considerable amount of ‘assets’although they assure that more teams would call the Brooklyn offices.

In the first instance, the offers from the Thunder and the Jazz are considered the most interesting, at least in regards to the number of first round draft picks they would be able to put on the table. Of course, the last word will, in any case, be with the Nets. At 27 years old, Bridges is averaging 21.4 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game this season.
