Mirra Andreeva and Linda Noskova are playing for the semi-finals in Brisbane.

Due to the high number of players who celebrate their first and sometimes greater successes on the WTA Tour with a certain regularity at a young age, one could assume a greater frequency at the higher-ranked events. But the quarter-final in Brisbane between Belarus’ Mirra Andreeva and Czech Linda Noskova is the first duel in a WTA quarter-final in this category in 15 years.

The 16-year-old Andreeva has been considered the new mega-talent since reaching the round of 16 at last year’s Wimbledon. At the end of the year she achieved her highest placement to date in the WTA rankings at number 46. At 19 years old, Linda Noskova has a little more experience. She is currently ranked 40th, her best career ranking in the world rankings. One of the two players will now reach the semi-finals in Brisbane.

Caroline Wozniacki 2009 gegen Melanie Oudin

The last time there was a teenage quarterfinal in a tournament with at least the WTA 500 category was at the US Open. In 2009, Caroline Wozniacki and Melanie Oudin played one of the four matches against each other in the round of the last eight. Wozniacki later lost to Kim Clijsters in the final.

Here is the individual tableau from Brisbane.
