The Santa Catalina Archery Club celebrates the success of participation in the Andalusian Absolute Championship disputed in Las Fuentezuelas, in Jaén capital. 169 goalkeepers and 20 coaches from clubs in the region attended, and about half of them compete in the U-21 categories. Hugo Vico, from Arqueros de Andújar, won silver in the U-18 appeal.
As far as the absolutes are concerned, the province’s sports teams put together a wonderful performance. Vanessa Lopez, from the Los Cerros de ÚBeda club, won gold in the women’s compound final; in masculine it stood out Juan Navarretefrom Encinares, who took the silver.
Manuel J. Calahorro, from the host club, took fourth place in men’s recurve after losing the final for third place. In a group of veterans, the leading role fell to Francisco Jimenezfrom Arcosur, who captured the bronze.
THE SPANISH CHAMPIONSHIP, IN FEBRUARY
The ‘Santa Catalina’ celebrates the demonstrated organizational capacity and the promotion of a practice with attracting power and positive consequences for tourism, as the organizers anticipated in the presentation.
The next event will be the absolute Spanish Championship that will be held from February 8 to 11 in Ifeja thanks to the management of the Santa Catalina and Arqueros de Andújar clubs, with the support of the Jaén City Council and the Provincial Council.
