Standard Liege Arrives in Spain for Training Camp with New Coach Ivan Leko

It was around 9 a.m. that the Standardmen and their new coach, Ivan Leko, set foot at Malaga airport. The faces were marked by the early night spent at the Academy and for good reason, the Rouches left their training camp at 2 a.m. to go to Brussels Airport.

The Liégeois arrived in Spain at around 9 a.m. At 5 p.m., they will be entitled to a first training session. ©DR

The players and staff are accompanied by the two managers: CEO Pierre Locht, who will leave after next Tuesday’s match against Borussia Dortmund, and sports director Fergal Harkin. The two men will have their work cut out for them as reinforcements are expected in the coming days.

After settling into their hotel, the Liégeois will head to the Marbella training center for a first session on the pitch at 5 p.m. Ivan Leko has 26 players. Kawabe, Djenepo and Sowah joined the group directly in Marbella unlike Isaac Hayden who is absent for private reasons which the club hopes to resolve in the coming days. But according to our information, Standard and Newcastle are in full discussions to end the loan of the Englishman who will probably not return to Sclessin where he will not have left a lasting memory.
