The orange ladies and men start their European Championship matches in water polo (with Zaanse input), the selections of KZ, Groen Geel and men’s selections of the water polo clubs will be in action again this weekend.

A cup match is scheduled for Wednesday for the volleyball players (m) of VV Zaanstad. There is also badminton on Sunday.

European Water Polo Championships for women and men with Zaanse input

The European Water Polo European Championships will start from Friday 5 January in both Eindhoven (women) and Croatia (Dubrovnik and Zagreb / ​​men). The ladies play in Eindhoven with no fewer than three players trained by Zv de Zaan. The sisters Bente and Lieke Rogge and goalkeeper Britt van den Dobbelsteen have been selected by trainer/coach Evangelos Doudesis to defend the colors of the Netherlands.

Last summer, the Dutch team unexpectedly claimed the world title in Japan by beating Spain via penalties in a super exciting final. Expectations are therefore high for Orange. The Netherlands is divided into Hungary, Croatia and Greece.

The match will be played against Croatia on Friday at 7 p.m. Hungary follows on Saturday and Greece awaits on Sunday. The first two teams advance directly to the quarter-finals. The last two teams play an intermediate round before the quarter-finals. A total of 16 national teams are participating in the European Championships.

The Dutch team has already qualified for the World Cup (February) and the Olympic Games (August).

The tournament in Eindhoven ends on January 13.
