The Czech club canceled a friendly match scheduled for February against Slovan Bratislava. The latter agreed to face Dynamo Moscow, which did not happen more at Slavia Prague.

Slavia Prague canceled on Tuesday a friendly match scheduled for February against Slovan Bratislava, on the grounds that the latter agreed to play against Dynamo Moscow, in the context of the war in Ukraine. Slavia, a Czech club, was scheduled to meet Slovan Bratislava, a Slovak club, on February 4 in a friendly match.

But Slavia learned that Slovan had played (and lost 2-1) a match against Dynamo Moscow on Tuesday in Qatar, behind closed doors, without mentioning this part on its website. “We do not plan to play friendly against Slovan Bratislava», posted Slavia on X. A match will be played against another team, and the profits and TV rights will be donated “for aid to Ukraine», added Slavia boss Jaroslav Tvrdik.

«In Europa League qualifying matches we played against Ukrainian teams and heard stories of the atrocities of war, from people who came straight from the battlefield“, he added.
