“There was a Virage survey in 2015, on the general population and different types of violence, and a survey by Greg Décamps on sport in 2009, but limited geographically. That’s pretty much all in France,” laments sociologist Philippe Liotard, member of the Laboratory on Vulnerabilities and Innovation in Sport. A suggestion then made its way: is there a need for a Sauvé Commission in sport? Understand, a commission of inquiry modeled on the model of the Independent Commission on Sexual Abuse in the Church (Ciase), capable of assessing the number of victims, collecting their testimony and paving the way for compensation.
