Serie A: Inter Milan – wafer-thin to a super important victory

In the final phase, events came to a head: Inter Milan defended its lead in the Italian Serie A with a razor-thin 2-1 (1-0) win over Hellas Verona.

With the 2-1 win against Verona, league leaders Inter Milan continued to stay at the top of the table on Saturday afternoon. However, the winning goal for the Nerazzuri only came in the third minute of added time through substitute Davide Frattesi.

Lautaro Martinez scores, Verona misses a penalty

Already in the 13th minute of the game, striker Lautaro Martinez gave the Serie A leaders a 1-0 lead after a pass from ex-Dortmunder Henrikh Mkhitaryan. In the 74th minute of the game, Hellas Verona was able to fight back with Thomas Henry making it 1-1.

After Frattesi’s 2-1 goal, Verona had another chance to equalize in the ninth minute of added time – even though the guests were outnumbered at that point after Darko Lazovic’s red card. But Henry missed his chance for a second goal and put the ball on the left post.
