Serie A: against AS Rome, Olivier Giroud and Theo Hernandez feast to offer victory to AC Milan

And one, and two, and three French goals! AC Milan took advantage of the form of its French players to win in the weekend’s Serie A clash against Rome. The evening ended with a little gem from Theo Hernandez, author of a powerful strike from the corner of the area (84th, 3-1).

The Lombard club opened the scoring in the 11th minute after a good effort from Franco-Algerian midfielder Yacine Adli. The former Girondins de Bordeaux player also scored his very first goal in the Milan jersey. The next scorer is not his first attempt: Olivier Giroud scored his tenth goal of the season in the league, from a corner (56th, 2-1). The top scorer in the history of the French team (56 goals) was also the decisive passer on Theo Hernandez’s goal, with a sublime backheel.

On the Roman side, the scorer was perhaps not French, but he played in Ligue 1. Leandro Paredes reduced the gap from the penalty spot in the 69th minute (2-1). The former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder deceived Mike Maignan by hitting hard in the middle. A goal ultimately without consequences.

Thanks to this success, AC Milan consolidates its place on the podium with eight points ahead of Fiorentina, fourth. Above all, the Italian club is reassured, after being eliminated from the Italian Cup on Wednesday by Atalanta Bergamo (2-1). The seven-time Champions League winner was dropped to the Europa League this season, after finishing behind PSG and Dortmund.
