Scotsman Gilchrist will miss the start of the Tournament

Suspended after receiving two yellow cards in the Challenge Cup, my second row will not play the first matches.

Scotland second-row Grant Gilchrist will miss the opening Six Nations match against Wales in Cardiff after being suspended for a week. Gilchrist received two yellow cards for dangerous tackles while playing for Edinburgh against the Scarlets in the Challenge Cup last weekend.

At an independent disciplinary hearing held on Thursday, the player, who accepted the accusations, was suspended for at least one week, until February 5. Gilchrist missed Scotland’s final two matches in last year’s Six Nations due to a three-week suspension.
