San Diego Padres Reinforce Pitching Lineup for 2024 Season

San Diego hired two of the best eastern pitchers as reinforcements for the 2024 Show

The San Diego Padres have not strengthened their hitting. Juan Soto’s departure could be significant, however, the Friars still have three players of Soto’s quality. With Manny Machado, Fernando Tatis Jr. and Xander Bogaerts as the team’s banners, the Southern California team is betting on pitching to regain its place in the MLB postseason.

The Friars announced the hiring of the Japanese Yuki MatsuiWorld Champion with Japan in the last World Baseball Classic, who arrives with a five-year contract for almost thirty million dollars.

Matsui, a left-handed pitcher who comes from the Nippon Professional Baseball League in Japan and reinforces the middle part of the team in the bullpen, however, could become a closer if Josh Hader decides to leave the San Diego Club House.

The other pitcher signed by the Padres is the Korean Woo Suk Go, with a two-year contract worth $4.5 million. Considered “the jewel of Korean baseball”, he arrives with a 1.38 ERA.

The Padres will begin the preseason on February 22 with a game against the LA Dodgers. San Diego’s first game of the regular season will be against the SF Giants on March 28 at Petco Park.
