Rumors Swirl About Pascal Siakam Trade Discussions as Mavericks Seek to Bolster Lineup

“I know there are people in Dallas who really believe that Pascal is the missing piece of the puzzle alongside Luka [Doncic] and Kyrie Irving to make the Mavericks a legitimate contender in the Western Conference,” said Jake Fischer (Yahoo Sports) in a guest appearance im Podcast Locked on Mavs.

Fischer also added that there have already been discussions between Dallas and Toronto about a trade for Siakam, but that has not yet resulted in any result. According to Chris Haynes (Bleacher Report), the Raptors’ separation from Siakam is “imminent”, while Marc Stein (Substack) recently reported that the Mavericks’ interest in the 29-year-old was exaggerated. Haynes, on the other hand, brought the Philadelphia 76ers and the Indiana Pacers into play as possible buyers; both teams have cap space in the summer and could pay the Cameroonian.

This is probably also the sticking point in the negotiations. According to Adrian Wojnarowski (ESPN), the future free agent definitely wants a maximum contract in the summer and, to a certain extent, has a say in where he will be sent in the event of a trade. On the other hand, staying in Toronto seems unlikely; both parties are far apart when it comes to salary expectations.
