The RSU unit coached by Krista Pīterniekas proved its superiority already in the first quarter, taking the leading positions. By the end of the first half, the red-and-black team increased its lead, going into the break with a score of 40:27. In the third quarter, the RSU unit once again kept the LU youth under the limit of ten scored points within one quarter. Marta Ozolinkevič’s team had to concede a 55:72 victory over their opponents, experiencing the ninth defeat of the season.
Rihards Gunter was the top scorer for RSU with 19 points. Mārtiņš Krūmiņš reached the ten-point mark, adding five won balls and five assists. Elvi Šukteris was a little short of a “double-double” with nine points and nine assists, while Pēteris Salminņš added eight points with 12 balls won.
Werner Drava was the only one in the ranks of the LU unit to reach double-digit points. Oto Bergmanis scored eight points, while Daniils Smirnovs recorded seven points and ten balls won in the statistics.
Tomorrow in the NBL tournament, a potentially interesting battle is expected in Gulbene, where the Regional League champion team “Sigulda/Modern house”, experiencing a series of three losses, will fight against the Bucks.
