Rosario Central Defeats Defensor Sporting 2-0 In Preseason Match

Rosario Central played its third preseason game in Uruguay this Friday. Miguel Ángel Russo’s team defeated Defensor Sporting 2-0 with a great goal from Lovera and another from Módica in the finale. It was the last friendly before returning to Rosario to finalize preparation for the start of the local tournament.

Russo used this match as a test bed for play with a line of five defenders and two area attackers. In the end, they were Ocampo, Komar, Mallo, Bravo and Alan Rodríguez. The two above were Cervera and Martínez Dupuy. In the middle, Ortiz, O’Connor and Malcorra remained.

The first half was dynamic, but poor. Defender Sporting started a little more friendly to the ball, but Central quickly went to discuss possession of the ball.

One of the scoundrel’s few appearances in attack was at the feet of Malcorra, who finished off from mid-distance, went wide.

At the end, Cervera entered the area with pure power and dangerthrew a low cross and the home defense took it to the corner after the goalkeeper’s saving intervention

In defense, they did not suffer too much, just two attempted attempts by their rivals. But in the middle of a very poor game, the equality before the break suited the scoreboard well.

For the complement, Russo decided to take care of three starters: so, Malcorra, Ortíz and O’Connor came out. Therefore, they played 45 minutes Lovera, Mauricio Martínez and Franco Ibarra.

As soon as the complement began, a free kick for Central at the door of the rival area allowed Maxi Lovera touch his first ball of the game. He caressed her and the Scoundrel took a 1-0 lead.

Then, Modica entered for Dupuy. Twenty minutes from the end, Russo changed the sides: Burgos and Sandez for Ocampo and Bravo. For the last ten, Giaccone and Bogado for Coyote and Cervera.

The party was dying in inconsequentiality. Central won and did not risk. Defender Sporting had nothing to do with it. So it was that a back pass without complications, the local goalkeeper tied himself in knots, Modica rushed him and, diving to the floor, stole the ball and sent it to the back of the net in the same technical gesture.

In its two previous tests, Central tied with the Uruguayan champion Liverpool (1-1), which it later beat on penalties, and against Colo Colo of Chile (0-0), with which it lost in the same way.

Central will debut in the 2024 LPF Cup as a visitor to Atlético Tucumán, next Thursday at 9:15 p.m. and Unión will appear against Racing in Avellaneda, on Saturday the 27th at 9 p.m.
