Wijchen –

Roosterse’s badminton players drew (4-4) in an exciting match when they visited Smashing. In Wijchen, the decision for the bottom two places in the Premier League seems to have fallen in Limburg’s favor.

Prior to the meeting between Smashing and Roosterse BC, it already promised to be an exciting match. The last time both teams played against each other, the Limburgers won 5-3. Of those eight matches, four ended in three sets and the two-setters were also quite close at times. In addition, Roosterse was not allowed to lose in order to secure a new year’s Premier League two matches before the end. The difference between the two teams in the rankings was five points in Rooster’s favor beforehand.

The first point traditionally went to Roosterse, because Nico Hermans and Noah Jongen are unbeatable this season. The women’s doubles went to Smashing. The singles matches were identical to the previous meeting. Xenia Koelmel defeated the Reuverse Leonie Rovers on behalf of the visitors, but the other three singles were won by Smashing.

In the mixed doubles, Roosterse won the first through Hermans and Stefanie Nijsse. Noah Jongen and Xenia Koelmel also won their match. The 4-4 draw means that the difference in the rankings remains five points. That seems to be enough for Roosterse to secure seventh place as Smashing still gets numbers one and two in the last two games.
