Rohan Janse van Rensburg (Sharks) established contacts with UBB

He is a player that Yannick Bru knows well having worked with him during his time at the Sharks last season. According to our information, South African center Rohan Janse van Rensburg is very popular with Union Bordeaux-Bègles, which he could join next summer. Discussions have been underway between the two parties for several weeks. The 29-year-old, who was selected for the Boks in November 2016, plays at the twelve position, a sector in which the Gironde club is seeking to strengthen itself.

In the past, he has also worn the colors of the Bulls and the Lions in South Africa, as well as Sale (England). But Janse van Rensburg is still under contract with the Sharks and must find an agreement for his release. The UBB is generally considering recruiting him for the center position. Australian Ben Tapuai, who also arrived from the Sharks a year ago, will be at the end of his contract next summer but he has an option for a second season. For the moment, his future is not fixed.

Finally, at the opening, Bordeaux-Bègles is still waiting for the response from Joey Carbery. The Irish international (28 years old, 38 caps) will no longer play for Munster, who confirmed his future departure on Monday, but his destination is still unknown. If UBB hopes for a favorable outcome, as indicated last month, the agreement would not yet be finalized between the two parties.
