Claudio “Diablito” Echeverri, River’s promising forward, abandoned the preseason in the United States in the middle of his sale to Manchester City, given that he was called up by Javier Mascherano to replace Pedro de la Vega in the Argentine Under-23 Team that will play the Pre-Olympic in Venezuela at the end of January.

The 18-year-old player was at the River camp in Bradenton when he received the call from the U-23 to join the delegation that will compete in the Pre-Olympic.
Echeverri was designated as the replacement for De la Vega, who suffered a tear during the national team’s training, and therefore Mascherano decided to call up the River footballer.
With this trip to the National Team, the “Diablito” will miss the entire preseason with the Millonario and the first games of the League Cup. In case Mascherano’s team goes far in the tournament, the Chaco native will only return on the fifth date of the domestic competition.
The Venezuelan Pre-Olympic tournament will take place from January 20 to February 11. The Argentine National Team will debut on Sunday, January 21 against its counterpart from Paraguay at the Misael Delgado Sports Center, on 1/24 it will face Peru, on 1/30 it will face Chile and on February 2 it will close the group stage against Uruguay.
