Rising Swiss Tennis Star Leandro Riedi Claims Second Challenger Title

The best Swiss player at the start of the year is Leandro Riedi (ATP 250). The Zurich resident has won a second Challenger in the space of two weeks.

After his success in Oreias, Leandro Riedi won in Louvain-La-Neuve to win his fourth title on the Challengers front. Having fallen to 320th place at the start of the month, it will be ranked around 175th this Monday. After a year 2023 disrupted by numerous injuries, the Zurich native, who celebrated his 22nd birthday on Saturday, is now perfectly “launched” to have a magnificent 2024 season.

In Belgium where he came from the qualifications, Leandro Riedi beat Borna Coric (ATP 40) 7-5 6-2 in the final. Seeded No. 1 in the table, the Croatian was disarmed by his opponent’s forehand verve. As against Benoît Paire (ATP 115) in the first round, the Belgian Gauthier Onclin (ATP 218) in the round of 16, Marc-Andrea Hüsler (ATP 200) in the quarter-final and the American Brandon Nakashima (ATP 127) , Leandro Riedi took great pleasure in thwarting all the odds.

The Zurich native will try to continue next week in Groningen where Switzerland will face the Netherlands in the Davis Cup.
