Nicola Dell’Orso, 70 years old, retired, yesterday in Giulianova fired a shot from an old pump-action shotgun at his wife Giovanna Di Bonaventura, 64 years old, in the courtyard of his house.
The gunshot did not reach her. Then he reloaded the weapon to fire again but the weapon jammed. At that point Dell’Orso allegedly beat up his wife with the same rifle and kicked him, before being stopped by some neighbors, attracted by the woman’s screams. Someone also used a baseball bat to block him.
Then the police arrived and also a 118 ambulance which transported the injured woman to the emergency room. Here the doctors found a wound in her ear which was sutured with some stitches, bruises on her side together with a profound state of shock and depression for which, later, they discharged her with a prognosis of thirty days. . In the evening she was able to return home to a two-storey house in via Prato with a courtyard where the events occurred.
The man was taken to the barracks and questioned by the police. He was unable to provide a defensive line and was in a state of confusion. He had been depressed since he retired, had undergone serious surgery and apparently had bouts of jealousy towards his wife who reported having been hit in the past.
On her husband’s Facebook page there is a photo of the couple celebrating her sixtieth birthday in front of a large cake. In the afternoon the magistrate ordered the arrest of the man for attempted murder, establishing that he should be locked up in the Castrogno prison awaiting the hearing to validate the arrest. Even the daughter who lives with her parents was deeply shocked by what happened but resisted in these difficult moments, taken by her mother’s situation and her father’s arrest, while the other son, away for work, returned in the evening .
