Las Palmas advanced this Wednesday to the semifinals of the Central Region of the Regional Amateur Tournament, after drawing 0 to 0 with General Paz Juniors on the Poeta field. The Blues took advantage of the victory obtained in the first leg and managed to hold on.

Overall they were better than their rival, in a heated duel that had left six sent off in the first game. In Juniors the game was calmer, but at the end there were incidents with the local players and their fans, who invaded the field.

Las Palmas will now face the winner of 9 de Julio from Río Tercero and Lambert from Monte Maíz who won the first leg.

The first half began without speculation from both sides. Las Palmas was the one who took center stage first, at the feet of Palavecino, but without depth. Juniors responded with a very clear shot before 5 minutes, where Altamira was facing the goal and Churchi saved by almost removing the ball from behind.

The Blues dared to hit him from the outside and it was Francisco García who demanded a good response from Dianda.

The first 15 were very entertaining, without a strong leg but with a lot of rigor. People were getting infected outside.

After several minutes of blue dominance, Juniors approached the area again in a play that was called for a penalty, but the judge did not buy it. Then he had a weak center that Chiatti contained. The Poet continued searching and managed to get back into the goal zone and Castro couldn’t finish.

After the hydration break, the two returned with another energy and more rough play. Some hard fouls and requests for yellow cards began to appear. The figures of Palavecino and Paredes were important in Las Palmas.

At 37 there was an unusual play that the blues failed, but in the end it was an advanced position. Three players couldn’t push her and she ended up saving a defender on the line.

And if that play had seemed like a lot, Axel Pereyra entered the Juniors area with a pure dribble and when he was about to shoot, Diego Bustos crossed him, took the ball from him and the play was diluted.

Closing the stage, Las Palmas came close again with a good play by Palavecino that García couldn’t close well on the volley.

In the complement, the one who almost hit first was the visitor, after a passed cross that Palavecino could not hit the three posts before two minutes.

The visitor began to play with the clock and the result in their favor, delaying each restart, generating despair in their rival, who needed a goal to force penalties.

Las Palmas did not take refuge and that is why the meeting was a round trip, with spaces on either side. Palavecino once again had the chance to end the series, but his shot went over the top.

The fatigue due to the humidity and heat was already taking its toll and that is why both Olave and Motivero moved the relay bench seeking to maintain the intensity with which the game was played.

The game was stopped so that the players could drink water and the visitor was ready to attack through pressure. Bustos recovered high and Palavecino again wasted an opportunity.

Juniors couldn’t find a way back, they searched with crosses from the sides and were only rejected by the visiting centre-backs. The changes brought air but lost mischief. Some players looked very exhausted and injuries occurred, like Mira, who was only on the field with a tear.

But the local team went ahead and had the clearest shot of the game in the 34th minute. Chiatti almost at close range cleared a shot from the six-yard box and celebrated it as a goal. The historic goalkeeper received everyone’s applause. Las Palmas wanted to put a cold shoulder to the process and it started to delay. Given the local protest, someone from the bank was red-carded.

The final minutes were played with pure tension, with protests and little play. And to make matters worse, the Blues had to play with Churchi on one leg, since they had exhausted their substitutions. Likewise, he made himself felt every time he had to intervene.

And when it seemed like nothing was happening, Fernández took a shot from outside that almost went in behind Chiatti. Everyone held their heads because it could have been the equality sought. El Poeta went with a lot of heart and sold the defeat at home dearly, but Las Palmas was the clear winner in the 180 minutes.

The other key to the quarterfinals

On the other hand, Lambert and 9 de Julio from Río Tercero are the other people from Córdoba who are still in the races and who will also face each other in the return leg this Wednesday, starting at 9 p.m. In the first leg, the Monte Maíz team won by the minimum against the Patriot.
