Defending champions Real Madrid have been eliminated from the Spanish Cup. The “Royals” lost 2-4 after extra time in the round of 16 at city rivals Atletico on Thursday. FC Barcelona had few problems in their 3-1 win at Unionistas Salamanca.
In regular time, Atletico took the lead twice through Samuel Lino (39th) and Alvaro Morata (57th). Real came back with an own goal from keeper Jan Oblak (45th + 1) and Joselu (82nd). In extra time, Antoine Griezmann (100th), who had been honored as the club’s record goalscorer before the game, scored first. Rodrigo Riquelme made everything clear (119th).
