Timo Werner is usually left out at RB Leipzig. That’s why his participation in the home European Championships in the summer is in danger. Now the striker is reacting and is planning a return to England. The decision is surprising.

The national soccer player Timo Werner is facing a surprising change. According to media reports, the 27-year-old from RB Leipzig will be loaned out to Tottenham Hotspur for six months. The negotiations are well advanced, but not yet in the final phase. Details such as a purchase option still need to be clarified. Sky first reported about it.

Werner is currently with the team at the training camp in La Manga, Spain. A test match against FC St. Gallen is planned for Saturday afternoon (3 p.m.). It was initially unclear whether Werner would be used in the game.

No starting eleven in the Champions League

In the training camp, Werner appeared to be much more relaxed than in the previous weeks in Leipzig and appeared to be much more motivated. In Leipzig it was recently assumed that the striker would not move this winter.

Through a possible transfer, Werner is hoping for more playing time and thus better chances of taking part in the home European Championships this year (June 14th to July 14th). He lost his regular place in Leipzig, was never in the starting eleven in the Champions League and only twice in the Bundesliga.
