In the first race of the season with a joint start, Rastorgujev shot perfectly in Lenzerheide and finished in tenth place, but the entire podium was occupied by Norwegians, with Johannes Tingnes Bä celebrating the victory. Rastorgujev managed to win one of the two medals in the individual World Cup competitions – 2016/2017, precisely in the mass start competition. In Oslo, he was second in this discipline.
In the overall ranking of the World Cup in the sum of all disciplines, the first six places are occupied by Norwegians – the leader is JTBè with 761 points, followed by his brother Tarjei Bè with 668 points and the third place is Johannes Däle-Ševdahl with 639 points. Rastorgujevs is 19th with 251 points, while Renārs Birkentāls is in 54th position with 33 points.

From January 21 to 28, the European championship will be held on the Slovakian track in Osrblí, from February 7 to 18, the world championship will be held in the Czech city of Nove Mesto, and the next stage of the World Cup will take place in Oslo at the turn of February and March.
There are nine rounds in the World Cup series this season, with the crystal globes handed out in mid-March at the Canadian circuit in Kenmore.
