Rapid has handed over offensive man Nicolas Kühn to Celtic Glasgow and has already signed a replacement, Christoph Lang. The Hütteldorfers announced the two transfers on Tuesday. According to the British media, the transfer fee for Kühn is expected to be in the region of three million pounds (around 3.5 million euros) and could increase through bonus payments.

That for Lang, who was most recently loaned out from Sturm Graz to league rivals TSV Hartberg, is said to be in the higher six-figure range. Kühn had scored seven goals and ten assists in 51 competitive games for Rapid since the summer of 2022. The 24-year-old German has been in Great Britain since Sunday with the club’s permission to finalize the transfer to the Scottish champions. “With Nicolas Kühn, a valuable player is leaving us,” explained Rapids sports director Markus Katzer. “Since the conditions were ultimately right for us, we complied with his request for a change.”
According to the club, replacement Lang received a contract until 2027. Like Kühn, the Hütteldorfer did not provide any information about the transfer terms. The Austrian U21 team player has made 20 appearances and five goals for Hartberg since the summer, the last of which he scored in the East Styrian team’s 1-0 home win against Rapid on November 11th. Days later, Zoran Barisic was fired as Rapid coach.
Lang arrived at the Hütteldorfer training camp in Belek on Tuesday evening. Theoretically, he could make his debut for the Green-Whites on Thursday (3 p.m. CET) in the next friendly against FC Slovacko, although that is unlikely. The 22-year-old is formally moving from Sturm to Rapid – the Graz team made use of a return clause in the loan agreement with Hartberg.
“He has made himself interesting beyond our national borders through strong performances in the Bundesliga and in the U21 national team,” said Katzer about the new signing. “As a young Austrian player who also has a lot of professional experience, he fits our requirements profile perfectly.” Lang himself was full of energy: “I’m looking forward to the first sessions with the coaching team and the new teammates as well as the First appearance in Hütteldorf in front of the famously loud crowd, which has always impressed me as a player on the opposing team.”
