Gustavo Costas started the week before the debut with a couple of comforting facts. It’s that for the first time in several days, Leonardo Sigali and Roger Martínez in Racing worked alongside the team ahead of the crossing with Unión. And most importantly, they responded well at the Academy, without any ailments: in this way, unless there is something unforeseen, they will be starters in the team’s debut this Saturday against Tatengue, starting at 9 p.m., at the Cilindro.
At the Tita Mattiussi Premises, the Bear trained normally for the first time since he felt an overload in his hamstring, during the first friendly of the preseason: against Almirante Brown, rival of the First National. After that, the coaching staff decided to preserve him with lighter physical work as a precaution and left him out of the next two tests against rivals. Thus, he did not participate in the Academy against Godoy Cruz and Lanús.
In addition to Sigali, Roger Martínez was the other footballer who trained alongside his teammates at the Academy. And this is also great news, since he missed the game against Lanús due to muscle fatigue. For this reason, instead the coach used Adrián Martínez in the first friendly and Maximiliano Salas in the second. Roger is a regular starter for Costas, the player he values most technically along with Juanfer Quintero. Both Colombians will start in a possible 4-3-3, whose names are still in doubt.

Sigali’s recovery in the Academy is a relief for Costas in a defense where he has just lost Nazareno Colombo due to a grade two external sprain in his right ankle. And that injury will leave the defender out of almost half of the League Cup. Furthermore, due to the sale of Gonzalo Piovi to Cruz Azul of Mexico, the field sector was even more exposed.
