Professional Referee Department Deals with KRC Genk and Club Brugge Complaints for Match Replays

KRC Genk’s complaint to replay the match against Anderlecht was dealt with on Friday. But there was another such complaint on the agenda, although it was hardly discussed.

The Professional Referee Department dealt with KRC Genk’s complaint about the penalty phase in the match against Anderlecht on Friday. Even after the hearing, the Limburgers maintain their position that the match must be replayed.

We now have to wait for the decision of the Professional Referee Department. That is expected soon. If it concerns human error, the match will not be replayed, but KRC Genk can still appeal to the BAS.

Club Brugge also filed a complaint with the Professional Referee Department a while ago to replay a match. That was the match against KV Mechelen. Then Thiago’s goal was disallowed for wrongful offside.

Blauwzwart speaks of a professional-technical error. You can read Club Brugge’s reasoning here. That complaint was also dealt with on Friday, but due to all the attention for Anderlecht-Genk, it passed in silence. The Referee Department’s decision in this case should also follow soon.
