NBA – Lakers probably interested in the return of Dennis Schröder

According to consistent media reports, Dejounte Murray has established himself as the top target of a possible trade from the Los Angeles Lakers, but so far the franchise around LeBron James has probably not been willing to pay the asking price. According to Dave McMenamin (ESPN), the Hawks want Austin Reaves as their counterpart, but the Lakers apparently don’t want to part with Reaves.

According to the report, Zach LaVine from the Chicago Bulls is currently not an attractive alternative to Murray for the Lakers. Instead, LA would probably be content with a good backup in the backcourt, such as Collin Sexton from the Utah Jazz and Tyus Jones from the Washington Wizards. Schröder and Bruce Brown from the Raptors have also already been discussed internally.

Schröder started 50 games for the Lakers last season and already played with LeBron James and Anthony Davis in 2020/21. From a purely statistical perspective, Schröder is currently having his best season since his years in OKC, but with the Raptors in the rebuild he has been getting less playing time since the arrival of Immanuel Quickley and probably doesn’t necessarily play a role in the long-term planning. The 30-year-old earns $12.4 million this season and $13 million next season.

Brown would be significantly more expensive with a salary of 22 million; his contract includes a club option for 23 million next year.
