Podium places for Aigner and Salcher in Veysonnaz

After his failure on Wednesday, Johannes Aigner rehabilitated himself and took second place in the visually impaired men’s class at the Super-G in Veysonnaz on Thursday. The Lower Austrian and his guide Nico Haberl had to admit defeat only to the Italian Giacomo Bertagnolli by 64 hundredths of a second.

Aigner and Salcher reach the podium

In the standing classification, Markus Salcher reached the podium on his comeback after recovering from a foot injury: The Carinthian came third, 1.22 seconds behind winner Arthur Bauchet (FRA). Robin Cuche (SUI) took second place. Nico Pajantschitsch and Thomas Grocher came in fifth and eleventh, respectively.

“I’m very happy to be back on the podium. It wasn’t that easy to drive today, it was very demanding, with a lot of blind gates that you had to hit exactly. The naturalness is not quite there yet, the feeling for the Super-G is still a bit lacking. That’s why I’m actually very happy with the result, there’s still more that can be done in terms of performance,” said Salcher. “Overall, it went well today, but it wasn’t perfect,” said Aigner confidently.
