Piedrabuena was the venue for the first event in the western zone of the Provincial School Age Badminton Championship, organized by the town council, in collaboration with the Provincial Council and the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports.
91 players from different categories participated and played 200 games, making the audience vibrate. The participating towns were: Puertollano (San Juan Bosco School), Fernan Caballero, El Torno, Alcoba de los Montes, Porzuna, El Robledo and Piedrabuena.
Beyond the improvement at the competitive level that is reflected on the slopes, what is important is the great atmosphere among the participants.
After matches full of emotion, the podiums were very distributed, highlighting Piedrabuena, Porzuna and El Robledo as towns that obtained the best results.
The next events with school badminton will be on February 25 in Torre de Juan Abad, which will host the second day of the eastern zone. On March 3 in Chillón the second day of the southern zone will be played and on March 10 in El Robledo the second day of the western zone will take place.
María Elena Delgado, Councilor for Education and Sports of Piedrabuena, stressed that one of the priorities of the Piedrabuena City Council is grassroots sports and in modalities such as badminton, in which the town contributed the largest number of players, who also achieved good results. She herself emphasized how sport is a commitment of the municipal corporation in the town, being essential to improve the health and well-being of athletes.
