The members of the Open Games association gathered on Saturday, December 23, for an extraordinary general assembly with the aim of closing a page in the Limoux associative environment and closing a great sporting and human adventure.
In June 2019, seven associations jointly organized Olympics on the sites of Trémesaygues, Ninaute and Notre-Dame-de-Marceille. Several disciplines were represented, judo, flag playing, table tennis, handball, athletics, badminton as well as orientation with the Scouts and Guides of France.
A first edition gave rise to the desire to experience a second, then in preparation. “At the end of 2023, the time has come to close this association with the prefecture, having no longer any reason to exist. It is also an opportunity to thank those who believed in the project and supported themselves. committed to building this sporting event together, the clubs named above, the municipality of Limoux, its sports department and the community of communes of Limouxin, the partners who gave us their trust, their financing, the musicians who hosted this event , all these volunteers from various backgrounds, without forgetting the athletes who responded. “
At the end of this exceptional meeting, the remaining sum available at the end of the financial year was shared equally among the seven founding associations.
On the eve of this Olympic year which is opening, the idea of the Limouxin Olympic Games is not a registered trademark: we can bet that if volunteers wished to revive such an initiative, our rich associative fabric would be able to respond favorably in its own way.
A meal prepared by the Taverne du Château de Villelongue followed to celebrate this adventure and exchange good memories.
