Penalty order
15.01.2024
Olympic tennis champion Alexander Zverev (26) has to go to court in Berlin. It’s about the accusation of bodily harm.
Ex-girlfriend Brenda Patea (29) has reported Zverev for assault. The German rejected the allegations. Nevertheless, a fine of 450,000 was issued against the tennis star. Zverev has lodged an objection to this through his lawyers. Now there is a trial against the 26-year-old. It starts on May 31st at the Tiergarten district court in Berlin, as a court spokeswoman announced on Monday. Eight days of negotiations are scheduled until July 19th.
Accusation: assault
The background is the aforementioned penalty order from last year, which is now catching up with the tennis star. At a press conference in June 2023, Zverev rejected the allegations.
Zverev is currently in action at the Australian Open in Melbourne, in round 1 he will face his German compatriot Dominik Köpfler. The two Grand Slam tournaments, French Open and Wimbledon, will take place during the planned trial period. However, Zverev is not ordered to appear in person.
