North Shore Student-Athletes Shine at RSEQ Provincial Badminton Championship

Around twenty student-athletes defended the colors of the North Shore this weekend in the Lac-Saint-Louis region while the RSEQ provincial school badminton championship was being held. The results show two medals for the north-coastal snowshoes.

We must look to the representatives of the Haute-Côte-Nord for the places on the podium of the competition contested at the Altitude secondary school in Pierrefonds.

In the juvenile category, mixed, Rosemary Laurencelle and Nicolas Tardif, from the versatile des Berges, hit a wall in the final for gold, losing (10-21, 6-21) against the duo from the region of Montreal formed by Selina Chen and Leo Guo. The champions gave more than ten points for only one round during the tournament, i.e. 15.

Kelly-Ann Deschênes and Jeanne Hovington, from Notre-Dame-du-Sacré-Cœur school, were also decorated with a medal, winning bronze in women’s doubles for the youngest against the color bearers of Abitibi-Témiscamingue .

The North Shore was also in the women’s juvenile doubles game for the Sunday qualifiers with the pair of Sandrine Boucher and Alicia Bélisle. The two student-athletes from the Polyvalente des Berges, however, admitted defeat in the quarter-finals.

In the regional rankings, the North Shore delegation finished eleventh in the RSEQ Provincial Badminton Championship.
