NFL game at minus 21 degrees

Icicles littered Chiefs head coach Andy Reid’s mustache in the fourth coldest game in NFL history – Tyreek Hill also had his own problems when he returned to his old place of work with temperatures as low as minus 21 degrees: “I’m freezing out there Balls off,” said the star receiver, who then entered Arrowhead Stadium for the warm-up in a short-sleeved shirt.

The entire offense of the Miami Dolphins from sun-drenched Florida seemed frozen due to the temperature difference of almost 40 degrees. The running game didn’t work, Hill remained well below his potential and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa only completed 20 of his 39 pass attempts.

The Chiefs coped much better with the conditions, especially Rashee Rice, who set a rookie record for a playoff game with eight caught passes and 130 yards. Kicker Harrison Butker also played a part in the sixth quarterfinal appearance in a row, coolly converting his four field goal attempts to make it 26:7.

That’s probably a matter of opinion: it’s not that cold, it says on the sign. : Image: AFP

It wasn’t quite as cold in Buffalo, although masses of snow caused chaos there. Due to an approaching winter storm, the game between the Buffalo Bills and the Pittsburgh Steelers scheduled for Sunday afternoon (local time) was canceled. “The decision was made in consultation with Governor Kathy Hochul and in the spirit of public safety,” the Bills said via X. The short news service also shows a video of the snow-covered Highmark Stadium.

The club had previously called for people to shovel snow together in order to make the artificial turf ready for play on time. The wages were $20 an hour and free meals. It is unclear whether the offer will continue to exist after the new schedule for Monday (10:30 p.m. CET/RTL and DAZN). Whether it’s snow or cold, this isn’t the first time winter has caused major disruption to the NFL playoffs.

By the way, Reid is threatened with another Frost Schnauzer if the Steelers win against the Bills. Then the Chiefs would have another home game – with predicted temperatures in the double-digit minus range.
