Neymar’s Rocky Road in the Saudi Arabian League: What Happened and What’s Next for Other Star Footballers

Bola.com, Jakarta – A number of star footballers have flocked to receive tempting offers from Saudi Arabian clubs. One of the famous players who left for the Saudi Arabian League is Neymar.

The Brazilian national team player surprisingly left for Al Hilal on August 15 2023. Neymar Al Hilal bought him from Paris Saint-Germain for a transfer value of 90 million euros.

This figure makes the former Barcelona player the player with the most expensive transfer value in the Saudi Arabian League. Apart from that, Neymar gets paid 150 million euros per year at Al Hilal.

However, the player’s career at Al Hilal did not go smoothly. After appearing in five matches, Neymar suffered an ACL injury which kept him out for nine months.

The 31 year old player was also reportedly involved in a dispute with Al Hilal coach Jorge Jesus. Severe injuries and not getting along with the coach have left Neymar’s future in limbo.

According to a report by Brazilian journalist Ademir Quintino, Neymar will return to Santos in 2025. Santos needs additional energy to return to promotion to the top caste of the Brazilian League.

Besides Neymar, a number of other top footballers also have an unclear future in the Saudi Arabian League. Who are they? Here are three other names.
