Three weeks before the trade deadline, the noise in the corridors is intensifying and ESPN reports that the Nets would be willing to join in the discussions. Not necessarily to improve the squad, but to recover Draft choices. Among the players who could be used as bargaining chips, there is Dorian Finney-Smith, and the former Mavericks winger is now used to it…
“There are always weird things happening around this time in the NBA”recalls Finney-Smith. “We can’t concentrate on the noises outside. It’s part of the game and there’s nothing we can do about it. We’re all on social media, and we’re bound to see them. There’s no truth to it, and there’s a lot of chatter before anything officially happens. I’m a Nets player and I want to win. It’s all that matters “.
Mission succeeded last night, against the Lakers, and Finney-Smith was invaluable with his versatility in defense. He was the one who took over from Nic Claxton at post 5, and we saw him counter LeBron James.
In July, the Nets demanded two first-round draft picks in exchange for Finney-Smith. Will they get them back by Feb. 8, when teams also call for Royce O’Neale and Spencer Dinwiddie?
“I really never pay attention to that shit… If it’s going to happen, it will happen” responds the Nets winger.
