NBA Report Shows Load Management Does Not Reduce Player Injuries: A Call to Limit the Trend

L’NBA recently released a report to all franchises, which explains how the “load management” does not have a positive effect on the number of player injuries.

This is just another attempt, in addition to the new rules, by the league and Adam Silver to limit this trend as much as possible. The report, 57 pages long, was created by the doctor Christina Mack analyzing mainly:

The number of matches played in relation to injuriesThe number of consecutive matches in the injury calendarsThe total number of matches played and injuries

The results of the analysis show that missing several matches does not reduce the number of physical problems of the players. The time phase analyzed for the creation of this report was the season 2013-2014 to 2022-2023years in which the phenomenon of load management progressively increased.

Suffice it to say that in the 90s the average number of matches missed by the stars was around 10, while currently the number amounts to as many as 24. This clearly constitutes a problem for the sport we love and, fortunately, several teams and players are managing to understand that the best solution to avoid problems of this type is to play, avoiding unnecessary contact or excessive falls, and not to skip games and lose form and rhythm, both fundamental in basketball.
