NBA: New Orleans beats Utah with franchise record points – Basketball

The day after Joel Embiid’s incredible 70 points, the great result of the evening in the NBA was the work of the New Orleans Pelicans. Led by CJ McCollum and Zion Williamson, the Louisianans beat the Jazz (153-124) and set the franchise record for points. New Orleans, which had already surpassed 141 points against Golden State two weeks ago, is on track for the playoffs, in fifth place in the West.

The Clippers faced the Lakers in Los Angeles while the Knicks took on the Nets in Brooklyn. In the former Staples Center of the City of Angels, it was the Clippers of Kawhi Leonard (25 points) and James Harden (23) who prevailed over the Lakers without LeBron James (ankle), 127-116. For the Clippers it is the third victory in a row, to consolidate fourth place in the standings.

On the other side of the USA, prediction respected given that the Knicks, fifth, beat their neighbors from Brooklyn, 11th 108-103. But the game wasn’t so simple for New York, which was still down 10 points at the end of the third quarter. Facing the Nets led by Mikal Bridges (36 points), the Julius Randle-Jalen Brunson duo had to accumulate 60 points (30 each) to give the Knicks the victory.

At home, the Thunder also had to fight to overcome Portland (111-109), snatching the victory two seconds from the siren on a basket by Jalen Williams. Here is OKC at the top of the Western Conference, with an identical record to that of Minnesota (30-13).

Behind this pair, Denver doesn’t give up, led as always by its Serbian pivot Nikola Jokic, author of a triple double (31 points, 13 rebounds, 10 assists), for a 114-109 victory against the Pacers. Jokic was well supported by Jamal Murray (also 31 points). The Pacers, who still have to do without Tyrese Haliburton, who is recovering, are seventh.
