To the great satisfaction of Aurore Fumoleau, the president of the Montmorillonnais Basketball Club association, basketball is a sport that is doing well in the town. « Since the outbreak of Covid-19, there has been real enthusiasm for this sport. Our club has grown in importance, especially since we are strongly helped by the City of Montmorillon which provides us with the Raoul-Mortier gymnasium and now by around twenty sponsors. »
Created in 2015 with around fifteen members, the club will exceed a hundred players this year. « It ranges from 6 years to 60 yearssays Aurore Fumoleau, herself a former basketball player. Within the club, you can practice this sport as a simple leisure activity or in competition.. »
The club currently has eight teams participating in departmental competitions, including, for the first time, a girls’ team. There is also a “baby” section, from 6 years old, for which training takes place on Saturday mornings. For older children, training takes place every evening of the week depending on age categories.
