Minnesota Wild Captain Jared Spurgeon Out for Season Due to Injuries

Jared Spurgeon, the captain of the National Hockey League (NHL) club Minnesota Wild, will no longer be on the field this season. announced a team.

The 34-year-old defender has settled with hip and back injuries. Due to health issues, Spurgeon played his last game on January 2nd and was placed on the long-term injured list on January 15th. It has now become known that Spurgeon will undergo hip surgery on February 4, and back surgery approximately four weeks later. It is expected that the “Wild” captain could be in the lineup before the start of the next season.

This season was already very rough for the “Wild” captain – he missed the whole of October due to injuries, returned to the line-up in November, but at the beginning of December, he settled down again with the injury, due to which he was in the “infirmary” for less than three weeks. The defender collected five assists in 16 matches.

Spurgeon’s injury is also likely to severely damage the playoff hopes of the Wild, who have struggled with injuries this season. Attack leader Kirill Kaprizov, main goalkeeper Filip Gustavsson and one of the leading defenders Jonas Brodin returned to the lineup only at the beginning of January after missing several games.

In the last seven games, the Minnesota team without its captain has experienced five losses. In the season as a whole, “Wild” with 41 points accumulated in 44 games occupies the seventh place in the Central Division and the 13th position in the Western Conference – nine points separate it from the “play-off” zone.
