Miles McBride Shines as Knicks Overpower the Undermanned Memphis Grizzlies

Miles McBride took advantage of Jalen Brunson’s last-minute loss due to injury to shine against an unrecognizable Memphis Grizzlies plagued by casualties.

The recently renewed McBride recorded his new career scoring high with 19 points to win at the FedEx Forum in Memphis 106-94.

He added 6 rebounds, 5 assists, a steal and a block to his tally while shooting 7 of 10 from the field. Both he and his teammate Isaiah Hartenstein played every minute of the second half.

The center was especially important, since without making much noise, he scored 12 points, 20 rebounds, 4 blocks, 2 assists and 2 steals in 42 minutes.

It was not a particularly brilliant game for the Knicks, since they took very poor care of the ball with up to 22 turnovers. An aspect that frustrated both Julius Randle and his coach Tom Thibodeau.

“It was horrible. I am not going to lie. I’ve been horrible,” admitted Randle, who scored 24 points, but also committed six turnovers. «It was just a very slow game. Very neglected. But we found a way to beat them, and in the end that’s what matters,” he explained.

“In the first half we didn’t take care of the ball at all,” Thibs noted. «I think our defense improved a lot in the second half. The rebounds were good at all times. But our losses were quite problematic », he concluded.

If it was a frustrating night for Thibodeau, imagine what this season is like for Taylor Jenkins with the plague of casualties that they have: Ja Morant, Derrick Rose, Marcus Smart, Steven Adams and Brandon Clarke. And last night they also joined Desmond Bane and Jaren Jackson Jr.

The result? A team more typical of the G League with Luke Kennard as its main offensive reference. Both Kennard and David Roddy added 14 points each, and from the bench GG Jackson stood out with 20 points, 6 assists and two blocks.
