Michael Vanthourenhout remporte le cyclo-cross de Gullegem

Here are finally some crumbs for cyclo-cross specialists. In the absence of Mathieu Van der Poel (who will participate in the World Cup round in Zonhoven on Sunday), Wout Van Aert (in training with his team Visma-Lease a bike in Spain) and Thomas Pidcock (ill), the champion of Europe in the discipline, Michael Vanthourenhout, won the second victory of his season this Saturday in Gullegem (Belgium).

On a very greasy circuit which has been modified in recent days due to bad weather, the 30-year-old Belgian easily won, with a 20-second lead, over his British pursuer Cameron Mason. More intense, the battle for third place turned in the last lap in favor of Joran Wyseure, just ahead of the promising Thibau Nys (21 years old).

For his first race under the colors of his new Arkéa-B & B Hôtels team, Frenchman Clément Venturini took 12th place. He will be lined up at the start in Zonhoven on Sunday.
