Mercato Lorient: Romain Faivre is already returning to Bournemouth

Player of Olympique Lyonnais at the time, Romain Faivre had already changed clubs in January 2023. In difficulty in the Rhône, he was loaned to Lorient. Bournemouth bought him last summer, before loaning him once again to Merlus. But the English decided to repatriate him this winter, as we mentioned on Sunday.

The 25-year-old midfielder, scorer of ten goals in 34 matches with Lorient, has not played since December 20. He was absent from the group again during the trip to Le Havre last Sunday (3-3) for the last Ligue 1 match. This did not really please Loïc Féry, the president of the Merluts: “Some have forgotten that football is a team sport,” he told the Telegram.

The Breton leader had however announced earlier in January that Romain Faivre would finish the season well in Lorient. A wish that did not come true. The Frenchman will therefore join a partner club of Merlus. Bill Foley, the owner of Bournemouth, has also been a minority shareholder in Lorient since January 2023.

This is a major sporting loss for Lorient, last in the championship with 13 points. The formation of Régis Le Bris will have to cope without its playmaker, author of 5 goals in the league this season.

To compensate for this departure, the last in Ligue 1 obtained the loan of the young Nice player Badredine Bouanani (19 years old), for one million euros but without a purchase option. Another path would lead to the Feyenoord Rotterdam winger: Javairô Dilrosun.
