Martín Demichelis revealed details of the discussion with Javier Mascherano about El Diablito.
Martín Demichelis and Javier Mascherano were, for a long time, teammates and cronies in the Argentine National Team. However, it seems that something broke in the last few days. At least, that is the impression left by River’s own coach, who revealed some details of the talk he had with the coach of the Sub 23 regarding the call-up of Claudio Echeverri.
“I spoke with Javier (Mascherano) and we reached a consensus, somehow. We have told each other privately what we had to say, what we had to talk about. The reality is that Claudio (Echeverri) is in the National Team”, expressed Martín Demichelis in dialogue with Sintonía Monumental. A testimony that does nothing other than confirm certain sparks with the coach of the Argentine youth team.
For his part, Martín Demichelis left another sentence to read between the lines and deduce some anger with Mascherano: “We had already loaned Pablo Solari, before the final list it was always Santiago Simón and in this case they have called us a player who in recent months has experienced very strong emotions. “Everyone had their opinion regarding the summons, but once the player was summoned, River granted it.”said the millionaire coach.

Beyond the dialectical exchange with Javier Mascherano, Martín Demichelis also explained why Diablito had so few minutes on the court during the second half of 2023: “At the time he came up permanently with us, he had a hard time finishing training and went down to the Reserve a lot, where he didn’t finish 60 minutes”revealed.
Furthermore, he analyzed the change he noticed in Diablito after his last participation in the Sub 17: “We are with the player day by day and we want him to be prepared. When he returned from the World Cup, we saw that his performance was in line with a First Division match, that’s why he played against Rosario Central in the League Cup and the Champions Trophy.”he concluded.
