Markus Söder and FC Bayern commemorate the football icon

Bavaria’s Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) and representatives of FC Bayern commemorated the late football legend Franz Beckenbauer. “We mourn the loss of a very, very great Bavarian, the most successful and best football player Germany has ever had. “Franz Beckenbauer revolutionized football”

In addition to club president Herbert Hainer and CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen, Beckenbauer’s long-time companions Uli Hoeneß and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge were there for FC Bayern. “Franz was more important than almost anyone, not only for FC Bayern, but also for German football and world football,” said Hainer: “In the past, I have often compared it to Muhammad Ali, who revolutionized boxing “Franz Beckenbauer revolutionized football.”

It was “a sad day for us when we found out that Franz Beckenbauer had died,” said Hainer: “Franz Beckenbauer was not only a very, very great footballer, but he also gave Germany an incredible amount. Namely, positive reputation in the world, especially through the 2006 World Cup.”
