Manchester United to Recruit New Striker in January 2024 Transfer Window

Liputan6.com, Jakarta- Manchester United is likely to recruit a new striker in the remainder of the January 2024 transfer window. Manager Erik ten Hag already has a request that MU can fulfill in order to strengthen the club’s attack line which is based at Old Trafford Stadium.

Manchester United’s front line was indeed problematic in the first half of the 2023/2024 season. The three attackers they have, namely Marcus Rashford, Rasmus Hojlund and Anthony Martial, are not sharp enough. None of the three have reached 10 goals this season.

Hojlund is currently the sharpest forward at MU. Even then, his collection of goals is only seven. The Danish young man has only scored two goals in the Premier League arena.

Therefore, it is necessary to add a new striker so that MU can climb into the top four of the Premier League. But MU encountered obstacles. They cannot buy a top striker in January 2024. This is because new investor Sir Jim Ratcliffe has not been able to disburse spending funds at the start of this year.

MU can now only borrow strikers from other clubs or recruit cheap forward players whose contracts are about to expire. Timo Werner was targeted but lost quickly to Tottenham Hotspur.

Now a new name has emerged for the potential striker who will be brought in by MU in January 2024. Journalist Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reported this weekend that MU will try to recruit Ajax Amsterdam forward Brian Brobbey.
