Maikel García: “I never lost confidence”

Tiburones de La Guaira defeated Bravos de Margarita this Monday and secured their ticket to their second consecutive final. Maikel García was key in the coastal victory by hitting four hits.

“I am happy for those hits that allowed me to help the team offensively and grateful to God for this second final,” García declared to IVC.

With this Monday’s victory La Guaira is now officially in its second consecutive final, now the sharks will seek to achieve what they did not achieve last year, the title.

“This year we have better pitching and the offense is stronger, the manager has a good plan with the pitching and that is going to be key for us to win the final,” Maikel commented.

García had just three hits in his first 21 at-bats of this Round Robin, but his offense was growing and now he has hit unhitters in the last five Tiburones games, batting .458 in that period (11-for-24).

“I never lost confidence, I have taken better at-bats and I was able to help the team with the bat in the last games to achieve these victories,” he stated.

Tiburones has played an excellent Round Robin, losing just one game out of 11 played and already with classification assured with six games left to play.

“All the teams are strong and we never expected that we would have this record, but we went out to play hard every day and thank God the results were given,” concluded the infielder.
