Luis Arráez’s future could be far from the Miami Marlins, who with two more years of control over the National League batting champion are still considering whether or not to give him a million-dollar contract extension.
It is known that the Marlins project is not based on long contracts of high amounts, so the Venezuelan waiter and first baseman could leave the team via trade before the deadline of 2024 or in 2025, just before becoming a free agent.
Robert Murray (@ByRobertMurray) currently believes it’s “unlikely” that the #Marlins will extend 2B Luis Arraez, via the Baseball Insiders livestream.

MLB Network’s Jon Heyman revealed last week that Arráez was available on the market, news that came as a surprise in the Major Leagues. Remember that the infielder left an offensive line of .354/.393/.469 with 30 doubles, 3 triples, 10 home runs and 69 RBIs last season, in which he was invited to the All-Star Game and won the Silver Bat and came eighth in the National League MVP voting.
Rumors about the divorce between Miami and Arráez began after the salary differences that will cause both to go to arbitration. The Venezuelan is asking for $12 million in salary for 2024, while the club is offering $10.6 million.
Arráez earned $6.1 million in salary in 2023. Whether he wins or loses the audience will see an increase in his earnings next season.
